Homesick Michal Svec Granted Leave Of Absence

Svec has been granted a 2 week leave of absence.

Nov 2012: New Reading signing Michal Svec has been granted a leave of absence from club boss Ally Clark after he confessed he felt homesick.

Svec joined the club for Dutch cracks Heerenven on the last day of the transfer window but has been unable to settle in Berkshire and has only amassed 3 appearences for the club.

Clark said Svec has been granted a 2 week absence in hope the player will return to the club refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead.


Fans Trust Step Up Reading Takeover Bid

Nov 2012: Fans Trust RFL (Reading For Life) today stepped up their efforts to takeover the club. RFL president Bradley Rowlands expressed his desire to turn Reading into the first English league club run entirely by it’s own fans. The Premiership new boys have been struggling financially for the last couple of years and it was rumoured that Readings promotion last season saved the club from going into administration.

Reading chairman John Madejski was unavailable for comment but a club source did confirm a transfer embargo has been set on the club until the takeover talks complete.


Blackburn 1-1 Reading

Christopher Samba was named Man Of The Match

Nov 2012 : Readin players showed no signs of rustiness after the International break by securing a 1-1 draw with Blackburn at Ewood park.

In a tightly contested game Itey Scheter gave Blackburn the lead after 41 minutes with a fine effort from the edge of the box.

With it looking like the teams would go in at half time with Blackburn 1-0 up, David Goodwillie bagged his first goal for The Royals since August with a header from a Danny Swanson corner.

In the 2nd half both teams had their chances to win the match, most notably with Jem Karacar hitting the post in the 67th minute. But the game finished even and Reading will be happy to get away from a potentially tricky tie with a point.

Pearce: I Deserve Scotland Call

Pearce has been on top form for reading this season

Oct 2012: Reading defender has critised Scotland boss Craig Levein for leaving him out of the Scotland squad for the forthcoming World Cup 2014 Qualifiers.

The 24 year old is uncapped and has been in the form of his life over the last 18 months for the Premiership newcomers.

“I feel I deserve a place in the Scotland set up. it’s always been my dream to play for Scotland at International level and I think I’ve now reached the sort of form and level needed. But I keep getting over looked. It’s frustrating, but I’ll just need to work harder”

Scotland boss Levein was unavailable to respond.


Reading 1-2 Sunderland

Oct 2012: Sunderland ended Reading’s run of 3 games without defeat with a comfortable away victory at the Madjeski Stadium.

Frazier Campell put Sunderland ahead after only 6 minutes before in form Reading hitman Moussa Maazou equilised against the run of play just two minutes later.

The Black Cats were unlucky not to go ahead again when Lee Cattermole saw his effort chalked off for being offside. The deciding goal of the came from the penalty spot after Reading captain Matt Mills brought down Frazier Campbell just inside the box after half an hour. Andy Reid stepped up to slot the ball home.

Despite the scoreline, Sunderland were fairly comfortable and Reading failed to create many chances.

Birmingham 2-3 Reading

 

Reading fans celebrate their teams comeback

Oct 2012: Reading came from two down to pick up their first away win of the season in a thrilling encounter with Birmingham at St Andrews.

Keith Andrews was unlucky to opening the scoring with an own goal from a deflected Craig Fagan shot. The teams went in 1-0 at half time but it could have been more for Birmingham.

Just 3 minutes after the break Craig Fagan scored from a corner to put Birmingham 2-0 up and Reading into deep trouble. However in an amazing turn around in just 10 second half minutes, Former CSKA Moscow hit man Moussa Maazou scored twice, either side of a Keith Andrews header.

The win is Reading’s 2nd in succession and lifts The Royals to 11th in the table.

Marvin Emnes Has A Go For Boro

 

 

Octber 2012: Reading continued on their good form at Goodison park last weekend to claim 3 points against a struggling Middlesbrough at The Madjeski Stadium.

With the club still embroiled in rumours of a potential takeover from a fans group, Ally Clark said his boys would do the talking on the pitch and they most certainly did.

Young Scot David Templeton continued his rich vain of form for The Royals with a stunning 25 yard strike that ultimatley ended up being the only goal of the game. It was also another solid defensive performance from Reading’s Alex Pearce and Matt Mills.

Reading rise to 13th in the table, with 8 points.

Everton 0-0 Reading

Sept 2012: The Royals ended their run of 3 straight league defeats with a hard fought victory over a determined Everton side at Goodison Park.

The hosts bombarded keeper Tomas Cerny’s goal in the opening 15 minutes before Reading found some sort of stable ground. From then on the match was more or less evenly contested with both sides failing to create any real chances.

In the second half Everton dominated possession wise, but created very few openings much in part due to a superb defensive performance from both Alex Pearce and Matt Mills.

Reading now end the month of September in 16th position on 5 points. Only 2 points seperates them from bottom club Middlesbrough who they play next.

Tevez was on form for City

Sept 2012: Reading suffered their 3rd consecutive defeat as Man City brushed them aside at The Madjeski Stadium.

Reading looked tired throughout and created only 1 shot on target. Meanwhile Man City bombarded the Reading defence and had two goals chopped off that could have made the scoreline a whole lot worse for Reading.

A brace from Tevez and a penalty from James Milner helped the men in sky blue to an ultimatley comfortable win.

Bebe celebrates his 92nd minute winner

Sept 2012: Bebe grabbed a 92nd minute winner for Manchester Utd to send Premiership new boys Reading crashing out the Carling Cup.

Reading can count themselves unlucky once again as they dominated large spells of the second half but couldn’t find that extra gear needed to progress.

After the match Reading boss Ally Clark commented “It’s obviously disappointing for the boys to go out after a last minute goal. But I thought over the course of the game we more than matched a strong Man Utd side and it’s given our guys belief that we do belong in the top flight. We just need to carry this form into the league”
