Takeover Drags On

 

Dec 2012: Conflicting reports today suggest that nobody really knows what is going on in the Reading takeover bid.

A source close to the RFL, the supporters group looking to takeover the club stated that talks between the two parties were “very close to collapse”

When that news hit the media Reading chairman John Madejski was quick to rubbish it and informed reporters outside the clubs stadium that “talks are progressing slowly, but we still would like to reach a deal within the next few weeks”


Homesick Michal Svec Granted Leave Of Absence

Svec has been granted a 2 week leave of absence.

Nov 2012: New Reading signing Michal Svec has been granted a leave of absence from club boss Ally Clark after he confessed he felt homesick.

Svec joined the club for Dutch cracks Heerenven on the last day of the transfer window but has been unable to settle in Berkshire and has only amassed 3 appearences for the club.

Clark said Svec has been granted a 2 week absence in hope the player will return to the club refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead.

Sept 2012: Reading suffered their 3rd consecutive defeat as Man City brushed them aside at The Madjeski Stadium.

Reading looked tired throughout and created only 1 shot on target. Meanwhile Man City bombarded the Reading defence and had two goals chopped off that could have made the scoreline a whole lot worse for Reading.

A brace from Tevez and a penalty from James Milner helped the men in sky blue to an ultimatley comfortable win.

Bebe celebrates his 92nd minute winner

Sept 2012: Bebe grabbed a 92nd minute winner for Manchester Utd to send Premiership new boys Reading crashing out the Carling Cup.

Reading can count themselves unlucky once again as they dominated large spells of the second half but couldn’t find that extra gear needed to progress.

After the match Reading boss Ally Clark commented “It’s obviously disappointing for the boys to go out after a last minute goal. But I thought over the course of the game we more than matched a strong Man Utd side and it’s given our guys belief that we do belong in the top flight. We just need to carry this form into the league”

New Bid To Takeover Reading?

Reading were the target of a failed takeover attempt in July.

Reading are once again rumoured to be in the midst of a take over. This time fans group RFL (Royal For Life) are said to be behind a bid to make Reading the first fan owned football club in England.

Chairman John Madjeski refused to comment on the speculation linking the club with a takeover and assured the clubs supporters that they would be the first to know if any such deal was about to take place.


Reading Snap Up Maazou in £2.4M Deal.

Maazou is available for Wednesday's Carling Cup clash with Bournemouth

August 2012: 24 hours after opening their season with a victory over Fulham, Reading today moved to clinch the signing of CSKA Moscow hitman Mousa Maazou for £2.4M

The striker from Niger joined up mwith his new team mates today and is available for selection for the Carling Cup clash with Bournemouth in 2 days time.


Reading Land Langil in £1.5M Deal

Steeven Langil joins reading in £1.5M deal.

July 2012: Reading today landed their 3rd signing of the summer, capturing AJ Auxerre winger Steeven Langil in a £1.5 deal.

Frenchman Langil has already joined up with the squad and geun training for the new Premiership season. Reading boss Ally Clark was over the moon to land the tricky winger.

“Steeven is a different sort of player to our current wingers and I feel thats what we needed. Our main wingers are small and may be pushed off the box easily in the Premiership so i thought it would be wise to add somebody with a little strength that we can call on if we’re being bullied by other teams”

Clark also stated that Langil won’t be the last new face through the door.


Clark Rejects Leverkusen, signs 2 year Reading Extension

July 2012: Reading fans can relax, boss Ally Clark today announced that he has knocked back an offer to take over German cracks Bayer Leverkusen as he feels he still has “Unfinished buisness” at Reading. He also announced that he has signed a 2 year extension to his current deal at Reading which will keep him at the club till 2016

“I owe the club my loyalty. John madjeski gave me my break in management and I felt it would be wrong to leave the club at this stage after all they have done for me. I am committed to leading Reading to greater things and taking them into the Premiership is just a small part of what I aim to do here. I felt it was important to reenforce my loyalty by signed a new two year extension, keeping me here till 2016. I couldn’t be happier. I just want to get on with my job now without any distractions of clubs offering me deals. I’m not interested.”


Reading Swoop To Land Two New Faces

Petr Trapp

July 2012: Just 1 day after the club returned from it’s pre-season tour of Portugal, Reading boss Ally Clark today announced his first 2 signings for the forthcoming season.

Giant Czech defensive midfielder Petr Trapp joins the club from Slavia Prague in a 355k move. Trapp is said to be delighted at the prospect of playing in the Premiership.

Reading also moved to land highly rated 17 year old AJ Auxerre Midfielder Gauthier Besnard for £4m. A price that has raised eyebrows from some Reading supporters for such a young player. Boss Ally Clark moved to assure the Reading fans he wasn’t over-paying for any player that may come through the door. He said “4 million pounds may be a lot of money for a 17 year old but from what I have seen this boy is something special. He’s young and highly movivated and I have no doubt he will become a reading star this season”


Reading Takeover Deal Collapses, Transfer Embargo Lifted

July 2012: In the last few hours Reading chairman John Madjeski announced that the clubs proposed takeover deal had collapsed and as such the transfer embargo he imposed and now been lifted. Boss Ally Clark has been handed a 15M warchest to ensure Readings survival in the Premiership.
