Reading miss out on Djuric, But Capture Svec

Former Czech U-21 Captain Completed a 1.3M Move

August 2012: On a busy last day of the transfer window, Reading looked to have clinched the signing of Heerenven’s highly rated defender Igor Djuric but were left disappointed when he failed to get a work permit.

Scrambling and in desperate need of a back up defender, Reading boss Ally Clark splashed 1.3M for Djuric’s Heerenven teammate Michal Svec.

The Czech internationalist joined just before the midnight deadline and has been registered to play in the upcoming Premier League clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane


Reading 1-1 Burnley

August 2012:  Reading scrapped a draw against an on form Burnley at the Madjeski stadium.

The afternoon got of to a great start for Reading when debutant Moussa Maazou put them in the lead after only nine minutes. However from this point on Burnley ruled the game and were lucky not to come away with the 3 points.

Kevin McDonald equalised for Burnley shortly before half time but the Clarets couldn’t capitilise on their dominance and had to settle for a draw.

Reading have taken 4 points from their opening two games and travel to White Hart Lane after the International break in hope of landing 3 more points.

Reading 5-0 Bournemouth

Jason Pearce scored 2 own goals on a miserable night for Bournemouth

August 2012: Reading swept aside League 1 Bournemough to advance to the 3rd round of the League cup.

Bournemouth captain Jason pearce had a night to forget, managing to score not 1 but 2 own goals. Scotland hitman David Goodwillie grabbed his first two goals of the season before winger David Templeton wrapped up the victory on the 86th minute.

Reading 3-2 Fulham

August 2012: Reading began their return to the Premiership with an outstanding win at home to Fulham.

Reading fans saw their team get off to a dream start when Danny Swanson opened the scoring after only two minutes from a Pavol vavrik corner.

Things got better for the Royals just minutes later when captain Alex Pearce rose above the static Fulham defence to bullet a brilliant header past the helpless Jesse Jordan in the Fulham goal.

Reading controlled the first half and their advantage grew to three when debutant Steven Fletcher, on loan from Everton, struck a sweet effort from just inside the 12 yard box.

reading went in at half time 3-0 to the good and could have been forgiven for thinking the game was over. In the second half it was much of the same possesion wise for Reading but they just couldn’t convert their chances and almost paid the price when Fulham scored two late goals through Bobby Zamora and Moussa Dembele.

The Royals however, held on to capture three points and can now look forward to a midweek League Cup game at home to Bournemouth.


Reading Take Steven Fletcher On Loan

Fletcher joins from Everton

August 2012: Reading boosted their front line today by completing a one year long deal for Everton forward Steven Fletcher.

Scotland cap Fletcher arrives at his 4th Premiership club in 4 seasons after being transfer listed by Everton at the start of the transfer window. He also joins the growing list of Scotland stars at Reading including Lee Wallace, David Templeton and his potential new strike partner David Goodwillie.
