Reading Land Langil in £1.5M Deal

Steeven Langil joins reading in £1.5M deal.

July 2012: Reading today landed their 3rd signing of the summer, capturing AJ Auxerre winger Steeven Langil in a £1.5 deal.

Frenchman Langil has already joined up with the squad and geun training for the new Premiership season. Reading boss Ally Clark was over the moon to land the tricky winger.

“Steeven is a different sort of player to our current wingers and I feel thats what we needed. Our main wingers are small and may be pushed off the box easily in the Premiership so i thought it would be wise to add somebody with a little strength that we can call on if we’re being bullied by other teams”

Clark also stated that Langil won’t be the last new face through the door.


Clark Rejects Leverkusen, signs 2 year Reading Extension

July 2012: Reading fans can relax, boss Ally Clark today announced that he has knocked back an offer to take over German cracks Bayer Leverkusen as he feels he still has “Unfinished buisness” at Reading. He also announced that he has signed a 2 year extension to his current deal at Reading which will keep him at the club till 2016

“I owe the club my loyalty. John madjeski gave me my break in management and I felt it would be wrong to leave the club at this stage after all they have done for me. I am committed to leading Reading to greater things and taking them into the Premiership is just a small part of what I aim to do here. I felt it was important to reenforce my loyalty by signed a new two year extension, keeping me here till 2016. I couldn’t be happier. I just want to get on with my job now without any distractions of clubs offering me deals. I’m not interested.”

Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Clark

July 2012: Reeading today confirmed that highly rated boss has been allowed to talk to Bayer Leverkusen about a possible move to replace Jurgen Klinsman, who lasted just 3 months as Manager.

The news comes as a massive shock and Reading fans will be praying their return to the top flight is not derailed before it even begins if boss Ally Clark opts to move on.

Clark still has two years remaining on his Reading contract but the offer of mega-buck from the German giants may be too good to turn down.


Reading Swoop To Land Two New Faces

July 2012: Just 1 day after the club returned from it’s pre-season tour of Portugal, Reading boss Ally Clark today announced his first 2 signings for the forthcoming season.

Giant Czech defensive midfielder Petr Trapp joins the club from Slavia Prague in a 355k move. Trapp is said to be delighted at the prospect of playing in the Premiership.

Reading also moved to land highly rated 17 year old AJ Auxerre Midfielder Gauthier Besnard for £4m. A price that has raised eyebrows from some Reading supporters for such a young player. Boss Ally Clark moved to assure the Reading fans he wasn’t over-paying for any player that may come through the door. He said “4 million pounds may be a lot of money for a 17 year old but from what I have seen this boy is something special. He’s young and highly movivated and I have no doubt he will become a reading star this season”


Reading Takeover Deal Collapses, Transfer Embargo Lifted

July 2012: In the last few hours Reading chairman John Madjeski announced that the clubs proposed takeover deal had collapsed and as such the transfer embargo he imposed and now been lifted. Boss Ally Clark has been handed a 15M warchest to ensure Readings survival in the Premiership.


Consortium Plan Reading Takeover. Boss’ Future In Air

July 2012: Premiership new boys Reading were today subject of a multi million pound takeover from an ex-footballer. Chairman John Madjeski is in premliminary talks with consortium and as such has placed a transfer embargo on his team.

Reading are currently in Portugal on pre-season and boss Ally Clark wasn’t available for talks. But it’s understood that the new owners are looking to remove Clark from his position as Reading manager and place unemployed, former League 2 footballer Neil McDonald in charge of Reading’s premiership quest. The news will upset and unsettle Royals fans as they look forward to their return to the Premiership for the first time since 2007.


Reading Open Pre-Season With Win Over E.K Thistle

July 2012: For the second consecutive year East Kilbride Thistle, from Reading boss Ally Clark’s hometown vistied The Madjeski Stadium for a pre-season friendly.

And for the for the second year running it was Reading who ran out comfortable winners against the Scottish junior side, eventually coming out 5-0 winners . Tricky Scottish winger David Templeton bagged a hat-trick either side of a David Clarke own goal and a sweet strike by youngster Nicholas Bignall.

The team will now fly out to Portugal for a 2 week pre-season tour before coming back to start their Premiership season. Boss Ally Clark has said no players will be coming in until after the side arrive back from their Portugal base.


Gunnarsson Leads Royals’ Exodus

July 2012 : Brynar Gunnarsson was one of 4 Reading players to leave the club today as boss Ally Clark makes room for some fresh faces. Gunnarsson, 36, left under freedom of contract along with Brazilian flop Gladstone, ex-West Brom striker Luke Moore and Scottish bad boy Ian Black.

Gunnarsson, Gladstone and Moore managed just 21 apperances between them, while Black was used mostly as a substitute in Reading’s Championship winning season.

Boss Ally Clark stressed that he had to move on players to create spaces for new signings and was not forced to sell before buying new stars. Reading were said to be struggling financially last season but with £40M in TV rights alone for qualification to the Premier League it’s unlikely they will be suffering the same woes this season.


The Quest For Greatness: An Introduction

 

So, It’s August 2012, a mere days before the start season 2012/13. A season of such vital importantce to Ally Clark and his Reading boys. After a dramatic 91st minute Shane Long goal on the final day of season 11/12 won the Championship for Reading, the club now look forward to their first Premiership season in 5 years.

The Media have already spoken, Reading are the favourites for the drop. Despite beating Newcastle to the Championsip crown and fellow new boys Middelsborugh. Clark will need to be wise in the transfer market and hope that his team have what it takes to defy the odds and survive their first season in the Championship.
